Balgarka Forest Lodge is a massive three-storey building on the Trevnenski Pass in Stara Planina. It has 47 beds, rooms with their own sanitary facilities, a dining hall with a fireplace and a restaurant. The building has running water and electricity, and is heated locally with solid fuel.
The hut is a checkpoint on the European E3 trail (Kom – Emine). It can be reached from Krastets railway station in about 1 h 45 min on foot, or by road from Plachkovtsi (17 km). The huts Ivaylo, Armeets and Planinets are nearby. In 2022 the lodge was fully renovated and reopened, and it operates year-round.
