Belmeken Hut is a massive three-storey stone building with 45 beds, located on the shore of Ravnichalsko Lake in a cirque in northeastern Rila, north of Ravni Chal peak. The rooms are heated with solid-fuel stoves, there is a dining hall for up to 35 people, and in winter an open room for up to 10 people is available.
The building was constructed at the end of 1932 to a design by the architects Gencho Skordev and Elena Varakadzhieva, and was consecrated in September 1933 in the presence of more than 1,000 people. Most of the construction funding was donated by Konstantin Panayodov, after whom the hut was originally named. It is managed by the Kostenets society "Ravni Chal".
There is no road for ordinary cars. On foot the hut is about 5 hours from the Kostenski Waterfall, and by high-clearance jeep about 3 hours, arranged in advance with the hut keeper. In summer a keeper is always present and hot meals are served. Electricity comes from a generator. In winter the hut operates by prior reservation.
