Bukovets Hut is located in the village of Bukovets, Svoge municipality, at the foot of Chukava Peak (1,587.6 m), the highest peak of Golema Planina. The village lies at an average altitude of about 1,000 m. The building is a solid two-storey structure, a former school.

The village is about 25 km southeast of Svoge. It is reached via road II-16 to the village of Rebrovo, then right for another 15 km or so.
