- Information updated
Kabata Hut is a mountain hut in the Rhodopes, on the Kabata meadow between the peaks of Gurgutevitsa (1,856 m) and Tsirikova Church (1,738 m). The meadow is known because on 28 June 1928 a panel of the International Court at The Hague sat there and awarded the forests around Persenk peak to Bulgaria. Around the hut there are several buildings that were once used by the former student camp "Slanchevi Polyani".
The hut is a starting point for Tsirikova Church, about 15 minutes' walk away, where a chapel commemorates Bulgarians who refused to change their faith in the 17th century. The Chudnite Mostove natural landmark is about 2 hours on foot, and eco-trails link the hut with the villages of Hvoyna and Malevo. In 2026 the hut was serving food.
