Mechit Hut

Mechit Hut is located in northwestern Rila, in the Govedarnika locality, a meadow at the foot of Malak Mechit peak, at about 1,751 m above sea level. The complex consists of two buildings, an old and a new one, with a total capacity of 73 beds. The hut has a tourist kitchen and dining room, a restaurant and a buffet, and the buildings have sanitary facilities, bathrooms and local heating. The hut is operated by the Rilski Turist tourist society of Samokov.

There is no car access to the hut. It is reached from the village of Govedartsi in about 2 hours on a marked trail, or from the Govedartsi ski piste in about 1 hour along a dirt road or a steeper forest path with green markings. A ski piste, a ski lift and a ski room are located next to the hut.

The hut is a starting point for Malak Mechit peak, Golyam Mechit peak and Budachki Kamak peak, as well as for longer hikes to Kobilino Branishte shelter, Vada hut, the Rila Monastery and the Malyovitsa area.
