- Information updated
Sokolna Hut is located in the Slivkata area, on the southeastern slopes of the Triglav massif in Central Stara Planina, at about 1,350 m above sea level. It lies within Central Balkan National Park, right next to the Sokolna reserve. It is owned by Pavel Banya municipality and is provided free of charge for use by the Sokolna tourist society.
A shelter was first built in 1972, and the hut itself was built in 1984 with volunteer labour. Building materials were carried in by horse, as the hut can only be reached on foot. On 21 June 2005 the building was deliberately set on fire, after which it was restored.
The hut is a starting point for routes from the villages of Gabarevo (about 3 h) and Skobelevo (about 2.5 h), as well as to Mazalat Peak (about 6 h), Tazha Hut (about 7 h) and Rusalka Hut (about 8 h). The hut is not operating.
