Trastena Hut was built in 1966 and is a two-storey building. It stands at about 1,130 m above sea level in Golema Planina, part of Western Stara Planina, at the northern foot of Izdremets Peak, in Svoge Municipality.
The hut is a stop on the European long-distance hiking trail E3 (Kom – Emine). It is about 1 hour on foot to Izdremets Peak and about 2 hours to the Sedemte Prestola Monastery.
