Information updated

Vihren Hut was built in 1939–1941 by the tourist society in Bansko and was originally named "Eltepe", the old name of Vihren Peak. It was expanded in 1949 by the VIF (today the National Sports Academy) and in 1963 by the Bulgarian Tourist Union. It stands on a rocky ledge on the left bank of the Bunderitsa River.

The hut is a complex of two large two-storey buildings and bungalows with a total capacity of 196 places. It has a dining hall, a tourist kitchen and a buffet, electricity and water, and is heated with solid-fuel stoves. The toilets and bathing facilities are outdoors. There is a car park in front of the hut, and camping is prohibited.

An asphalt road of about 16 km leads from Bansko to the hut. The hut is a starting point for climbing Vihren Peak and for routes to the Sinanitsa, Demyanitsa and Tevno Ezero huts, as well as to the Banderishki Lakes. Fish Banderishko Lake is reached in about 50 minutes.
