Botev Shelter stands at 2,053 m in the Polyankata locality, at the western foot of Botev Peak in Kaloferska Planina. The building is a solid single-storey stone structure with 35 beds in three rooms (of 7, 8 and 20 beds). The shelter is owned by BTS Sofia and operates year-round with permanent staff.
It has its own electricity supply, central heating, an indoor bath, outdoor toilets, a kitchen and a rustic-style tourist dining hall. Meals are available on advance booking, and in summer often without a reservation. The shelter is a checkpoint on the E-3 route.
Botev Peak is about 45 minutes away. The shelter lies on the trails to Ravnets Hut, Vasil Levski Hut, Ray Hut, Pleven Hut and Tazha Hut. It is on the winter route from Karlovo via Ravnets Hut, Kochmara and Petolachkata towards Botev Peak, and it holds a stamp for the "Conqueror of the 10 Mountain Peaks" initiative.
