Opasniya Zab Shelter stands above Teteven and the Beli Vit river valley. There is a bench by it, and from the shelter and the neighbouring panoramic platform there is a wide view of the town and its surroundings in every direction.
The shelter is reached by a trail marked in green from the Koznitsa tourist hostel. The trail runs through broadleaf forest and along a rock ridge, through a narrow gap with a metal railing and up a rocky section with steps and a rope, and taut metal cables are fitted near the shelter. The only water source is at the start of the trail.
Shortly before the shelter, a faint side path branches off towards Petrahilya peak (1179 m) via the Ravni Kamak plateau.
